FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME ON SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING


The Faculty Development Program on Social Emotional Learning (SEL), facilitated by Mr. Shourya Kuttappa, was an enriching initiative that strengthened educators’ understanding of SEL and its impact on modern pedagogy. Using reflective questionnaires, discussions and practical frameworks, participants explored the importance of self-awareness, social awareness, relationship management and responsible decision-making. The sessions highlighted the role of educators as facilitators of holistic human development, rather than merely transmitters of knowledge, influencing both emotional intelligence and academic success.
The programme was based on the learning of various learning styles, structured micro-meetings to promote collaboration and systematic observation of stakeholders to better understand the educational ecosystem. Faculty members also learned about day-to-day operational strategies such as active listening, empathetic communication, reflective practice and conflict resolution that would reinforce SEL as a continuous practice rather than a one-time intervention.
Overall, the program provided actionable insights and strategies to create empathetic, inclusive, and emotionally intelligent learning environments, enhancing both educator effectiveness and student well-being.
