VISIT TO INDIAN INSTITUTE OF HORTICULTURAL RESEARCH

National Public School Yeshwanthpur organized an educational visit for class 10 students to INDIAN INSTITUTE OF HORTICULTURAL RESEARCH, Hessarghatta on Monday, 8 September2025. The visit aimed at sensitizing students to sustainable practices in agriculture and the significance of horticultural research in ensuring food security and environmental balance.
At IIHR, students were introduced to various ongoing research projects in fruit cultivation, vegetable production, floriculture, and plant protection. They also witnessed demonstrations on modern techniques such as greenhouse farming, tissue culture, integrated pest management, and water conservation methods. Students learned how scientific innovation in horticulture contributes to better crop yields, reduced wastage, and eco-friendly farming practices.
The visit not only enhanced their academic knowledge but also inspired them to appreciate the role of farmers and scientists in building a sustainable future. It truly reflected the spirit of SEWA (Social Empowerment through Work Education and Action), as students connected classroom learning with real-life applications and understood the importance of contributing responsibly towards society and the environment.
The day concluded with students expressing their reflections on the visit, highlighting their key takeaways such as the need for sustainable agriculture, conservation of natural resources, and the role of innovation in nation-building.
